Back in the day... Monitors were built here in RTP.  There were special "booths" with a halo around the top of them that produced an electromagnetic field simulating the sourthern hemisphere, so that monitors for markets in both hemispheres could be built in the same location.  

Back in the day, there also was a wrecking facility here, that one of my friends worked at.  It was a job in the manufacturing division, and the job was literally to wreck surplus computer equipment so that it could be written off, and recycled.  They used claw hammers to take apart CRTs, ripping off the plastics, and then knocking off the necks on the back of the tube to release the vaccum before tossing in a bin for glass reclaimation.</description>
