New version of Gmail rocks

Upon rebooting my machine after a close encounter with a cup of coffee, I noticed GMail looked different.
The colors looked a wee bit different, the status notification boxes, etc. But what really stood out to my was how much faster it was. I had become accustomed to the somewhat laggy interface, which was compounded by […]

Gmail: What Gmail IMAP Means for You (and Your iPhone)

Lifehacker has a great article on Google’s recent release of IMAP for Gmail. I’ve been using the web interface since I got Gmail and have been very happy with it, but particularly in Firefox it can get bogged down & be a litte trying to use extensively.
I may fire up Thunderbird and Office 2007 to […]

It’s 5:47pm and I’m still in the office - thankfully

The wonders of technology let me know when it is safe to leave the office. See the orgy of cars and all the brake lights lit up? That is a look at the exit where I would get onto the interstate to head home. Thank you traffic cams!

Can’t find your cell phone?

Don’t have someone nearby who can call it for you? Assuming it’s not on silent and you have Internet access, send yourself a text message through an online portal like Sprint’s.
Trust me, works great.

Undercover reporter busted at hacker conference

DefCon is apparently a yearly, underground hacker conference which is regularly attended by Federal agents and where “TV media outlets are barred from sweeping a room with their cameras and also have to get permission from any individuals before capturing them on film.”
Anyway, DefCon staff were sent this photo by a contact in Dateline NBC warning […]

TG Daily - AMD’s four-three strategy to beat Intel

I came across a surprisingly good article on “tgdaily,” one of the many offshoots from the original Tom’s Hardware. I normally abhor their articles for many reasons, but this one was rather good and I realized why when I read the disclaimers, it is written by renowned industry analyst Rod Enderle.
Anyway, if anyone wants a crash […]

jkOnTheRun: A day in the life- a tale of two tablets

I’ve been periodically visiting this blog/news site for a while, when their posts about Lenovo products started showing up in my Google alerts. This is a long, but great post about the author’s mobile productivity. It covers the author’s usage of technology throughout an average day for him, consisting of a lot of travelling from site to site for meetings and […]

Weird disclaimer about CRT monitors

I was browsing one of the Hardware Announcement Letters I get in my inbox about our new products and came across the note below. I had no idea this was the case, what a weird thing to stumble upon after CRT’s have nearly gone the way of the dinosaur.
Note: Due to the earth’s magnetic field, […]

I’m crippled

A couple small oversights and I feel trapped, crippled if you will. I didn’t charge my cell phone last night and my laptop has been on & off all day without a refuel. I am now tethered to the wall with two power cords at a time when it would be awful nice to be […]
