Might need a suspension adjustment…

So a recent discussion on the GTO forum prompted my attention. A guy had a similar suspension setup to mine, although with the Pedders coilovers up front. The coilovers allow a height adjustment of up to 1.25″ below stock - my front springs are a 3/8″ drop. Even with the coilovers cranked all the way […]

New header image

Apparently my uploading of this post snagged after I hit Publish and turned my monitor off - pardon the improper tense, as it was nearly 2am
As my final act of this long day, I’ve commissioned a new header image up top. I used the techniques described here to make the background black & white, as I did […]

Goat gets some new legs

Are legs really the proper metaphor? I can’t say they are, but it was the best I could up with in ~10 seconds. Anyway - Mark and I made use of Jim’s Garage a couple weekends ago to get the GTO outfitted with its much needed new suspension.
The full complements of parts installed are as […]

Check out what the delivery guy brought me the other day

The rest of my suspension bits have arrived. Front springs, rear shocks, front endlinks, rear sway bar end link bushings, and new shock bolts. The rest of my pieces have been here for a while, although I am still waiting on a guy to ship the front radius rod bushings.
I figure I will do […]

Power + No Traction + Inexperience = Dangerous

I’m glad I had a 120HP pickup truck when I was 17 - if I had 350HP on tap (2004 model GTO’s) that mighta been me at one point.
Four local youths were rushed to area hospitals Monday morning after their car skidded off the roadway and crashed into a tree.
……………
“From what I could tell […]

GTO runs the Autobahn

This lucky dog got to run his heavily modified GTO on the Autobahn. In the video below, he says he was running somewhere between 6500-7000rpm in 5th gear. That puts him around 170-180mph :eek2:
At this particular point, I was in fifth gear somewhere between 6500 rpm and my 7000 rpm redline.
Particulars:
-2005 Pontiac GTO (Midnight […]

3700 lbs, 400HP, and ULEV certified?

I was surprised to learn the GTO (or more specifically, the LS2 engine), is ULEV certified. For those not familiar with ULEV or other CARB certifications, Wiki has this to say:
A ULEV or Ultra-Low Emissions Vehicle is a vehicle that has been verified by the California Air Resources Board to emit 50% less polluting […]

LS1GTO.com Forums - 2,352 GTO’s Remain on Dealer Lots

Over 16% of 2006 GTO’s produced are still available on dealer lots. Aside from a suspension most hard core drivers will drop in a split second, the GTO is an incredible bargain for the performance and has a much better fit & finish than any other Pontiac I’ve been in. A persistent buyer should be […]

3D GM V8 Engine Assembly Video/Screensaver

Now this is pretty cool. I’ve never built or even partially disassembled an engine and this gives you a pretty cool view on how things go together. The video below is of an LS2 and you can download it as a screensaver from here: http:/www.smallblockscreensaver.com
They also have a “small block truck engine” screensaver/video, used in […]

Listening to the customer

The proper way to treat customers has been a hot topic lately. Mark and I discussed it regarding our customers recently, and he discusses the “Customer Service Hook” over at markitude.
As you all know I’m a car nut and especially so with my GTO. As such, I interact with vendors on the LS1GTO.com Forums quite a […]
